The Art of Time Management



This is Part 3 of our Study Techniques series, let’s Talk about Time Management


Time management is a major game ♟️ changer when it comes to effective studying.


There are countless examples of projects falling short 📉, making silly mistakes in exams 📝 and even missing out on important university and further studies applications 📜 ALL attributed to poor time management. Without utilising your time efficiently, there is significant risk associated with interfering with other commitments.


Therefore Time Management is the true key to a balanced lifestyle and effective studying. 🤩


But how? 🤔 Well we’ve got some tips for you! So don’t stress and let’s talk time management‼️


Time Management Tips and Tricks

  • 🥅 Goal Setting - Step 0. Identifying with clarity exactly what your goals are is essentially to establishing what steps need to be made in order to achieve those goals. By committing to a certain goal, you are forced to visualise yourself at a point of success.

  • 📄To DO list - The first step in anything management is knowing what you are managing. By making a to do/ task list you can have a visual representation of all the components involved in your overall goals. This will help with time allocation and prioritisation.

  • ⚖️ Prioritisation - This skill is essential for completing tasks by deadlines and future planning for larger projects

  • 🔨 Setting Boundaries - In order to manage your time well it is important NOT to be engulfed by one project only. A holistic understanding of the components in your schedule is essential for maintaining a rewarding and time sensitive lifestyle.

  • 👥 Grouping - Grouping similar tasks or setting tasks to flow one after the other with short 20 mins in between can be a great way to boost productivity and develop a positive relationship with time sensitive tasks. Grouping encourages multiple tasks being completed in one session whilst also preserving the essential breaks in between to recover successfully from fatigue (both mental and physical).

  • 🛏️ Regular USEFUL Breaks - Breaks are the KEY to making the most of your available time and maintaining progress. But not just any breaks, USEFUL breaks. Useful breaks are achieved when there is a feeling of restfulness and an opportunity to remove yourself or your mind from the tasks at hand. By provding yourself a proper break that refreshes your sensory input e.g. taking a walk outside, making a coffee, cutting up some fruits, sitting in the garden, doing some yoga, the list goes on), the essential feeling on being refreshed allows you to re-approach your tasks with a positive, energised mindset. If you can take effective breaks (unlike doom scrolling 💀) you can achieve effective time management.

  • 🤔 Self Reflection - The final step in any cycle of time managment, is self reflection. Self reflection allows you to identify what strategies worked, what breaks were useful or not useful, what tasks were easily group-able or not as well as what tasks are more important that others especially in time sensitive contexts. By allowing yourself even 20 mins of self reflection after a week you are able to unlock valuable insights that can properly your future goal getting sessions.


Time management is definitely a learned skill that is hard to practice and hard to implement 🏃🏾. It required a good amount of self reflection and determination to visualise yourself in a position of sustainability ♻️ that is built over a long period of trial and error.
